About
GAAD, from the northern Thai word for market, opened in 2025 in an old shophouse beside Chiang Mai Gate market. Inside it's bare concrete, dark wood and very cold air-con, with only about ten seats downstairs and more upstairs, plus a small balcony looking out at the Old City wall. The coffee uses northern Thai beans, and the dirty is the drink people come for, along with creative versions and an orange espresso. There's sourdough to eat too. I'd pair it with a wander round the market.
