PA_YEN

PA_YEN (ป่าเย็น, roughly 'cool forest') is a glasshouse café tucked into a large patch of woodland in Mae Taeng, on the drive up to Chiang Dao. The turn-off is in a lane opposite Kad Mae Malai and easy to miss, so set your GPS to the shop. Once you're in, the name makes sense: it's shaded and noticeably cooler, with seating inside the glass room and out on the pebbled grounds. Coffee, drinks and a few cakes. It's a good leg-stretch stop rather than a destination on its own.
