Talung is a small, family-run southern Thai restaurant on a soi off Chotana Road, north of the moat, and it has a MICHELIN Guide listing. The cooking is properly southern and properly spicy. The signatures are squid stir-fried in its own ink, and prawns with homemade shrimp paste and sataw (stink beans). The room is simple and prices are fair for the quality. If you can handle the heat, I'd put it near the top for southern food in the city.
