Chiang Mai Night Safari

Hang Dong · Hang Dong / Nam Phrae

About

The Night Safari is the big state-run nocturnal zoo in Mae Hia, next to Royal Park Rajapruek, and at around 327 acres it bills itself as the largest of its kind. It opened in 2005 and is run by the Zoological Park Organization. The main event is the tram ride through the animal zones after dark, plus walking trails and shows. It's touristy and priced accordingly, but it's an easy evening out with kids. Go for one of the evening trams rather than the daytime ones; the whole idea is seeing animals at night.
