The table tennis club meets in the municipal sports complex near Chang Phueak, north of the Old City, and it's about as low-key and cheap as sport gets in town. There are around nine tables, the regulars play most evenings, and visitors can turn up and join in. You can borrow a paddle if you don't have one, though keen players bring their own. It's a good way to meet local players, and nobody minds if your game is rusty.
