Elephant POOPOOPAPER Park

Mae Rim

About

Yes, it's paper made from elephant dung, and the POOPOOPAPER Park in Mae Rim, about 15–20 minutes from town, shows you exactly how it's done. The fibre is collected from local elephant sanctuaries, cleaned and boiled for hours, blended with other non-wood fibres, coloured, then screened and dried in the sun. A guided tour of around 40 minutes walks you through each step, and you can see the sheets drying in the sun. It's silly but genuinely interesting, it doesn't cost much, and it's an easy one for families. It's a short, easy stop on a Mae Rim day.
