North Gate Spirit

North Gate Spirit comes from Opor, the saxophonist behind the North Gate Jazz Co-Op, and it fills a restored Old City shophouse full of folk art and local craft. By day it's a café pouring Chiang Rai coffee with twists, like a yuzu Americano or a coconut-foam latte. It also serves the house shochu, distilled from rice and sugarcane, in highballs from 150 baht, and there's a boozy shochu ice cream. Later it turns into a bar and music space featuring ethnic-minority musicians. I'd start with coffee and stay on.
