Ob Khan National Park

Ban Pong · Hang Dong West (Ban Pong / Samoeng Rd)

About

Ob Khan is the easy nature fix close to town: a national park in Nam Phrae, Hang Dong, about 30–45 minutes south of the city. The draw is the Mae Khan river squeezing through a short gorge, with smooth, water-carved rock walls, natural pools and riverside paths. It's a place to wander, sit by the water and take a picnic rather than a big hike, and it makes a good half day when you don't want the drive to Doi Inthanon. Take the river seriously, though. The rocks are slippery even when dry, and the current gets strong after rain.
