Roi Dvarapala Ban Devalaya
Suthep & CMU · Suthep / CMU / Baan Kang Wat
About
Ban Devalaya, also known as Baan Devalai, is an artist's house-museum and Ganesh shrine in a quiet soi in Suthep, below the mountain. The centrepiece is a huge Ganesha carved from a single log, and around it is a mix of Thai, Hindu, Buddhist and Chinese art and woodcarving. Entry is free, though donations are welcome, and it's open every day. It's one of the more unusual places on the west side of town, and an easy add-on to a visit to the nearby temples or Nimman. Dress respectfully, as it is also a place of worship.
