Wachirathan Waterfall
Doi Inthanon & Mae Wang · Doi Inthanon / Mae Wang / Chom Thong
About
Wachirathan is the most impressive of the waterfalls on the drive up Doi Inthanon, and the one I'd stop at if you only do one. Mae Klang Creek drops roughly 70–80 m over a granite cliff, and it flows all year, so even in the dry season there's something to see. On a sunny day the spray often throws rainbows over the pool. It sits near km 20.7 of Highway 1009, the road up the mountain, around 80 km from Chiang Mai, so it's an easy stop on the way up or down. Expect to get a little damp near the spray.
